I am sure you have tasted many strawberry daiquiris, but they really cannot compare to a Caribbean Strawberry Daiquiri. This type of daiquiri is absolutely divine. It is an uplifting and delicious cocktail that is packed with fresh strawberries and a hint of lime. In fact, this drink is like having strawberries straight from the vine. The cocktail is lush, juicy and enchanting. Just one sip and you feel like you are on a Caribbean island basking in the sun.

Learning how to make strawberry daiquiris is really quite simple. The secret is all in the ratio of ingredients. And of course, fresh strawberries are a must for the best intoxicating flavor. However, frozen strawberries can be used if fresh ones are unavailable.

Another key to an excellent strawberry daiquiri is the rum. Now when it comes to rum, it is important that you use quality white rum for the best cocktail. Although a great strawberry daiquiri can be made with dark rum, it is generally too rich in flavor.

A good daiquiri should be refreshing and not musky and mellow.  In truth, a Caribbean strawberry daiquiri is deliciously crisp, lively and sharp.  Some of the best white rums for a strawberry daiquiri mix are Bacardi Superior, Rhum Barbancourt, Kinkylux White and Lamb’s White Rum from the Caribbean, Tanduay Silver Rum from the Philippines, Plantation 3 Stars and Appleton white Jamaica rum. But by all means, use your favorite white rum to go with the perfect strawberry daiquiri recipe.

Now, I have to give you a heads up, you really cannot taste the rum in this cocktail. And as we all know, an excellent strawberry daiquiri is smooth and creamy with no taste of rum that leaves your palate puckering. However, this strawberry daiquiri recipe has a lot of rum.

Serves 4-6

  • Prep 5 min
  • Cook time 2 min
  • Total time 7 min
Ingredients
  • 1 cup white rum, quality brand is best
  • 3 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and chopped coarsely
  • ¼ cup lime juice, freshly squeezed
  • Ice cubes, as needed

Best Cookware to Use

  • Blender
  • Lime juicer
Preparation

  1. In a blender add the rum, freshly chopped strawberries, fresh lime juice and one cup of ice. Pulse the ingredients until well mixed and the ice is dissolved.  If you want an extra thick strawberry daiquiri, use less ice. If you like a slushy type cocktail, use more ice. But make sure to only add ½ cup at a time until you get the desired thickness.
  2. Pour the strawberry daiquiri into chilled martini glasses. Garnish with a strawberry or lemon wedge to make a nice presentation. Serve immediately.

Notes: For a slightly sweet version, add 2-8 teaspoons sugar to the strawberry daiquiri mix before blending. Adjust to taste.
